I think I’ve mentioned this before, but in case you are new here let me be up front about this: I am a mom. I gave birth to 5 children and “thanks” to my one set of twins, I only had to have 4 pregnancies. Unfortunately because I had twins first and an emergency c-section, I ended up having 4 c-sections. I think the majority of moms will agree (especially if they carried more than one baby) that the body you have before babies and the body you have after said babies is VERY different (or completely different/unrecognizable…).

It took me a few years to come to grips with the fact that I will never be able to wear the same clothes that I wore all those years before babies. I spent many painful hours shopping just to find a pair of jeans that fit right. I used to be able to look at something on the hanger and decide if it was right for me. Post-babies, I had to try on everything and I was almost always disappointed. {Please somebody nod your head and tell me I’m not the only one!}

After each pregnancy, I would feel so discouraged that my body just never seemed to “bounce back” the way I thought it should. During my 3rd pregnancy, I developed a pretty painful umbilical hernia. After delivery and that hernia repair, I developed another hernia within a year. I talked with my doctor at my one-year check-up. She confirmed that I had diastasis recti. In everyday language, diastasis recti is when your abdominal muscles have separated due to pressure, but have not returned to the “center midline.” This causes lovely pooching or doming of your belly, causing well-meaning strangers to ask me when my baby is due when I am over a year postpartum (Side note: don’t you hate that? People: please don’t ask another woman when she’s due unless she has already told you she’s pregnant! Please!).

So of course I went home with this new information and did what anyone else would have done. I Googled it. Or I used Swagbucks, but you know, same thing. I found several articles and a couple different systems out there all claiming to help women resolve these issues. I did more research. I kept reading until I felt sure about the route I needed to take.

That route was with the MuTu System. I took Wendy’s advice and followed her program for a few months. Soon I was feeling infinitely better and more like “me” than I had in a few years.  It even made my next pregnancy easier because I had already strengthened my core and had good habits in place.

Because I already knew how well MuTu System worked after baby #4, I knew I would use it again. After baby #5, I started again from the beginning. I am actually planning to start again and go through the program with a friend as an accountability partner, but I am in such a better place physically and emotionally than I was at this time after my other pregnancies and I know it is in large part due to following the MuTu System.

If you are ready to “bounce back,” no matter how long it’s been since your last child was born (or if your diastasis recti came without pregnancy, because that can happen, too) and want the direction and the confidence to do it, here’s what you do:

  1. – Visit the MuTu System homepage.
  2. – Get excited!
  3. – Check out some of the information they provide.

I, personally, bought the 12-week Program a few years ago and love it. It includes many elements to educate you and to help you build better habits to better care for your body. One of my favorite things that Wendy does throughout the MuTu System is how she reminds us of how amazing our bodies really are. We often get so self-critical about our bodies and how we look and what flab is hanging where, that we forget that our bodies created human beings! That is a pretty amazing feat! We put our bodies through all of that and then we stop appreciating them—why?

I know I’m guilty!

Once you sign up for MuTu System, you will be invited to join a fantastic Facebook group that is very supportive and encouraging, full of women in similar situations all over the world. It’s great!
